Mobile Sites and Furious Visitors

We’ve all found ourselves screaming at our mobile phones sometime or other and it’s more than likely that they deserved it.  Whether it be a ridiculously slow page speed, an attention seeking pop up or the fact that you just can’t seem to find what you’re looking for, a website which is that unimpressive is sure to have you climbing the walls!  From a business’ point of view, the last thing that you want is for potential customers to head straight for the exit button.  To avoid this at all costs, take a look at some of the biggest mobile mistakes which will make any and every visitor to your site furious.

Pop-Ups EVERYWHERE!

Do you want to know what one of the most annoying things are, above all else?  Those pop-ups that follow you all the way down the screen, just in case you looked past it which – trust us – it downright impossible!  I don’t think that there’s one person who would want to take a feedback survey mere seconds after finding their way onto your site either.  What it all comes down to is the fact that all they want to do is either purchase something specific, find out more information, or answer a certain question.  All that you have to do is move yourself out of the way, but not before ensuring that you can give them what they want.

The Slowest Page Speed…Seriously?

The majority of people expect your website to load in 2 seconds or less, and chances are that if it doesn’t, they’ll be finding one that does.  There are an endless amount of reasons as to why potential customers are visiting your site: they’re bored and looking to be entertained, they’re looking for information while on the go, or they’ve finally decided to make that purchase they’ve been thinking about for the last month.  Slow loading will undoubtedly interrupt their objectives, which will see them leaving your site to find another more effective one who can provide them with exactly what they’re looking for.  Not only will this upset your visitors, but it will also have an effect on your page rank.  This will be a result of search engines taking longer to crawl your pages.  This will in turn affect your site speed.  To fix this problem, get rid of any pages which aren’t optimized, code which is overloaded and bulky, and excessive widgets and plugins.

Unnecessarily Long Forms

I have yet to meet a person who enjoys filling out forms, which is why you can be sure that the more fields your form has, the further away you’ll end up pushing your customers.  Don’t ask for the things that you don’t need and avoided added in anything that will waste and unnecessarily long amount of time.  By eliminating the pointless you’ll be in favour of the fundamental.  To make things a whole lot easier, make use of auto-fill forms which will allow your customer’s mobile device to remember details for your website.  Not only will this make their lives a whole lot easier, but you can be sure that they’ll be coming back again knowing that you can provide them with what they need.

Navigational Nightmare

There’s one thing that’s worse than annoying a potential customer – confusing them.  if they find that they don’t know what to do or are left clueless, it’s because your design clearly isn’t doing what it should.  The navigation of your mobile should be created with the intention of providing a simple and obvious site which has a clearly labelled guide to allow users to make their way through it seamlessly and with no issues.

Homepage Re-Directs…But Why?

We’re sure that the last thing you’ll want to do is throw your beloved iPhone under a bus, but after thinking that you’ll be landing on amazing homepage and are faced with a homepage redirect, your feelings might change.  Chances are they won’t be very appreciative of what you alternative solution is either – they wouldn’t have clicked on the link if that wasn’t what they actually wanted to see.

Keep one thing in mind at all times – your mission.  This should involve the creation of a mobile site which will please your customers with its simple and easy-to-use navigation and impressively fast loading speed.
